Bobbie Brooks
Bobbie Brooks, RYT 500, is registered through Yoga Alliance
and received her 500 hour yoga certification at the Nosara Yoga
Institute (NYI) in Costa Rica under the tutelage of Don and Amba
Stapleton. She is trained in Interdisciplinary Yoga which is
an inquiry-based method that allows students to develop their
own body awareness through a skillful application of yoga techniques
and cues. Her teaching methodology blends various styles and
schools of yoga. She has developed a model that incorporates
Vinyasa style (for fluidity), Anusara style (for physical alignment),
and inquiry-based Interdisciplinary style (having its roots in
the Kripalu tradition) for a well-balanced yoga practice. Bobbie
is a certified yoga therapist.
She is certified for cancer/cardiac
yoga therapy through the Yoga of the Heart® program and is
also a certified Pranassage Practitioner®. Bobbie has extensive
yoga training that includes some of the country’s leading
yoga experts such as Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, Beryl Bender Birch,
Seane Corne, Erich Schiffman, John Friend, Nischala Joy Devi,
Patricia Walden, Rod Stryker, Judith Hanson Lasater, Baron Baptiste,
Lilias Folan, Doug Keller, Gary Kraftsow, Bo Forbes, and many
others. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga
Therapists (IAYT) and sits on IAYT’s Council of Schools
as the NYI representative.
Bobbie lives split-based between Madison, AL and Nosara, Costa
Rica. She consults for the NYI Directors providing yoga curriculum
development, strategic planning for the institute, and assists
with trainings when she is in Costa Rica. She is also an engineer
and owns an engineering consulting firm. She has been practicing
yoga for 10 years and is in her 5th year as an instructor. She
