props and equipment.

Yoga I introduces yoga postures and principles
designed to bring strength, flexibility, openness and awareness
into the body. Classic yoga postures as well as modifications
are introduced to give the student many options in the development
of a personal practice.
Yoga Dance and Flow is an empowering workout
and the perfect complement to traditional yoga. In this high energy
class the teacher will guide the students through free flowing
kriyas and namaskars - energetic rhythmic movements and movement
meditations. When we get into the rhythm and the
flow we become more attuned to the inner workings of our mind-body
connection. We are then able to foster meditation and relaxation
through movement. Although this class encourages spontaneous movement
and expression, it is also structured with ample guidance given
by the teacher. Some students will come just to enjoy the yoga
dance and flow class but others will combine this class with the
slow flow yoga class that follows it in the mornings, or the power
yoga class that precedes
it on Wednesday evenings. Wear comfortable yoga clothes that
move with you. We'll dance away rigidity and stiffness, release
tension, sweat a little, and enjoy our bodies in motion.

a world of movement: movement is life, life is movement."

Slow Flow Yoga for all Levels - A vinyasa
(flow) yoga class appropriate for students of all levels who
have experience with basic yoga poses or asanas. In this class
we will flow from one pose to another as we move through a
variety of different vinyasas (flowing sequences). Some vinyasas
will be high energy and others will be more meditative. This
slow flow yoga class will also encourage spontaneous and creative
movement within each pose - moving the body in spiral and wave
like motions rather than rigidly holding the pose. Exploring
rhythmic movement within the pose allows for a wonderful release
of tension and rigidity within the body and the mind. It also
increases range of motion within the joints and develops strength
and flexibility.
Power Yoga presents a series of flowing
yoga postures in which the postures are connected and one posture
flows into the next without interruption. The flowing yoga
posture series balances the body by creating internal heat,
breath awareness, deep release and relaxation.
Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth provides expectant
mothers with an opportunity to deepen their connection with
their bodies and their babies, and to develop a sense of community
with other pregnant women. Prenatal yoga builds strength and
endurance, reduces fatigue, and relieves some of the discomforts
of pregnancy. Prenatal yoga also prepares the mother for birth
by facilitating a feeling of inner peace and harmony, and an
awareness of the inherent power and wisdom that every woman
has to give birth to her baby and to mother the child that
lies within. Women can attend this class at anytime during
pregnancy and the early postpartum period. More
New Beginner Yoga is a four-week series for
first time yoga students. It is intended for those who prefer
a definite starting date and a fixed number of class sessions.
The first class will orient the student to the Center, Center
facilities, props and equipment. The basic poses and actions
of yoga are introduced and handouts provided. This series will
help develop basic skills for moving into our other yoga classes.
Pilates is a class designed to move
the student into strength and fitness very quickly. Pilates presents an
exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength
for the total body without building bulk. Pilates is a series
of controlled movements engaging the core of the body and focusing
the mind.
